I’m getting my act together and taking it out to the blogosphere.   Move over.

There is nothing funny or laughable about what is taking place within the beltway and throughout the current administration, from the top down.  So much of it is absolutely dangerously, ridiculous.

I’m not here to scoop a headline or seek a byline, but rather to reflect, to take some time to see events from a different perspective.  I go to bed too early to scoop anyone and don’t get going early enough to beat any 9th grade journalism student.

Having been a class clown and still hilarious as hell during a root canal, I determined that my viewing of events and people from the light side (everything has a light side) relieves my internal tension.

I’m not a journalist, though it was a youthful dream.  I am a published writer and there is no better catharsis than a keyboard.  Those of us who are compulsive communicators seem to have a “mouth,”  as well. Listeners often don’t know how to listen to us.  We are direct, sharp and quick.  ”Ms. Word-Smithy-Pants” here.

My eldest daughter dropped an A-bomb on me not very long ago;  “Mother,” she said, “if you’d had an opportunity for advanced education you would have been the first Ann Coulter.”  No offense, Ann.

A most  famous mentor was Dan Rather, who taught me the extreme difference, the brick wall, between commentary and journalism.  During the ’87 Robert Bork Supreme Court appointment hearings,  Congress was behaving badly and Dan, in his 6:00 pm news cast, referred to the event as the Bork Debacle.  Wow.

So, that’s what we’re about here:  Saying what we think.  Maybe we can reflect together.  The we is because I hope for a spirited debate from which everyone’s open mind may glean something.  It is impossible to change the way anyone thinks notwithstanding the ability to out-shout them, out-rank them, or just flat out-whapping their lights.  Minds change from example and personal discovery through experience, observation and discourse.

You’ll find I don’t have much to say, I have countless questions.  Let’s talk!

So okay change my mind without ‘you ‘ getting upset that I don’t find socialism an unpleasant thought. Judging from an archaeological view, we humans are innately communist and socialist.
I was raised in the good old USA, and appreciate the fact that we capitalist, communally chip in to pay for school, police, fire, garbage persons etc. Most Americans do not hire these services privately…but do so as a community. This (among other things) is where I stand now, but I will read your words and if you are more convincing than the outlandish FOX network…you might change my mind about politics…

Most definitely i’ll make sure to don’t forget this web site and give it a look on a constant basis.

As I watched a minister from Florida on TV last Thursday, standing up to the government regarding the issue of the building of a Muslim Mosque across from the site of what use to be the twin towers, I was amazed that this one person, was able to get the attention of not only press, but government officials, with the threat of burning the Koran. Attention that should have been reflected by all of our US citizens. Reflection on the insult, the stick in the eye by the very people who cheered when those planes struck the towers, and it reminded me of the apathy of the majority of people who live and enjoy the benefits of this country.. If one man, one man, can raise that level of attention, what could a thousand citizens do?? It is time to stand up and be counted, vote, vote, vote this year, make your voices heard, before you no longer have a voice! Socialism is just the next step toward communisim, sounds good to some, beware, Democracy, with all its flaws, is still the best form of government. Ask a Russian!!!

Ok, so we don’t agree on a few things but I am interested in reading this because I often learn better via the written word than the spoken one. But I have to comment on this; now really, do we actually believe that a crazed, fundamentalist christian (intentional small “c”) from Florida wanting to burn things up literally and figurately best represents the higher-thinking American spirit not to mention the “love your enemy” words of Christ? Please……..show me how that kind of “stand up” will lift us to a higher standard, above our enemy’s?

  14. Carolyn Says:

No, Keri: I don’t believe violence of any kind represents the higher-thinking American.
